Australian Design Awards

In early 2007, vervecreative was invited to pitch for, and subsequently won, the job of managing the Australian Design Awards.

That was the beginning of a truly collaborative and fruitful relationship. Three years on, together, vervecreative and the design awards team have developed a strategic partnership that has seen the profile and status of the event increase significantly year on year.

In the second year of vervecreative’s involvement with the project, the award program underwent a significant transformation – becoming the Australian International Design Awards. From 2008 onwards, products designed anywhere in the world that are marketed in Australia are eligible to enter the Awards. This significantly widened the scope and complexity of the program.

Our involvement continues to grow. In 2009, vervecreative was also made responsible for the management of the exhibition component of the event – with over 100 products of all shapes and sizes, from a hearse to a Cochlear implant, from a refrigerator to a wetsuit.

Each of the three events that vervecreative has managed so far has been hailed as the best yet. Working closely with the Design Awards Team, that upwards trajectory is set to continue.

The award program is about to undergo a new phase as the team develops a powerful branding strategy designed to raise the profile of the awards and provide ever greater value for all stakeholders – the owners of the event, winners and finalists, sponsors and the design community.

Apart from managing the event, vervecreative is now involved at a strategic level, working with the Design Awards team to create a strong, sustainable and powerful future for the awards and increasing the awareness amongst the wider community of the importance of excellent product design.
